Are you sure there's a password on the database? Most Pervasive databases don't have passwords.
There are also two levels of 'passwords'. There is relational security (which has an 'Admin' user of 'Master') and there are owner names.
If your application has Owner Names and requires the owner name for read access, you'll need to specify that in a 'SET OWNER' statement to use ODBC. In either case, you'll have to contact the vendor of the application to get the Owner Name (or Master password). There is no way to crack a Pervasive database (not that it would be legal anyway). Have you tried to access the database using ODBC? If so, what error are you getting? Thanks for your answer. It's hard to believe there's no way to get in to a secured database, because almost every piece of software you can access physically you can crack it.
Actually I don't know how it's secured. The database is used with a VB application and I want to create a piece of custom software next to it.
Therefore I need to read some values from the database. I noticed your profile and you look like a real Pervasive expert (are you working for Pervasive?). And yes, I know it's not legal to crack a database, but the purpose for me is.! I leave this question open for still a few days to see if there's someone with a nice trick somewhere.
